Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Webinar: A Fit for the Future opportunity to have an update from (and ask questions of) the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero

The Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) is a mandatory energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK that meet the qualification criteria.  Many Fit for the Future member organisations take part in the ESOS scheme and subsequently share questions, approaches, resources and lessons learnt at our network discussion groups.

Organisations that qualify for ESOS must carry out ESOS assessments every 4 years. These assessments are audits of the energy used by their buildings, industrial processes and transport.  The ESOS audit is designed to identify tailored and cost-effective measures to allow participating businesses to save energy and achieve carbon and cost savings.

We are delighted to announce that Ella Livingstone (Policy Lead - Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) and Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) at the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero), will be providing an update on ESOS and answering questions you might have about the scheme. This is also an opportunity to provide your feedback on the scheme and any suggestions you have for improvements.

The update will answer common questions raised previously by the network, including:

·         Overview of ESOS: What is ESOS? Is ESOS relevant to my organisation?  Do we qualify? How does it differ from SECR?

·         Key dates: When do the ESOS phases run? What are the key deadlines within these phases?  What should my organisation be doing right now?

·         How to comply: What does my organisation need to do to comply with ESOS? Is there guidance? Do we need to appoint a lead assessor? What do we need to do if we have an ISO 50001 certified energy management system? Who does my organisation need to contact to report compliance with ESOS? What evidence does my organisation need to keep/submit?

All members are very welcome to attend, whether you are directly involved in ESOS delivery or would like to find out more about the scheme.  Please do circulate details to any colleagues from your organisation that this webinar would be of interest and use to you, we would love to see them there.
