How do you inspire, engage and empower staff members to take collective and impactful action to implement environmental sustainability within an organisation?

Many organisations are now implementing Green / Sustainable champion initiatives to support this outcome:

· Involving staff in developing an organisation’s environmental sustainability policy and strategy

· Supporting staff to increase their knowledge of environmental sustainability issues and learn new skills

· Inspiring and empowering staff to take action. Embedding a green/sustainable ethos throughout an organisation, encouraging and supporting wider behaviour change amongst staff at all levels.

· Enabling environmental sustainability to be central in all activity and decision making. To develop opportunities that not only reduce environmental impact but also save money, improves internal communication and interaction, creates positive marketing opportunities and increases job satisfaction.

· Supporting monitoring and reporting processes

At this event we will hear from three network members who have implemented Green / Sustainable champion initiatives in their organisations:

Hannah Laywood, Guide Dogs for the Blind (Sustainability and Energy manager)

Louise Kelly, Historic Environment Scotland (Sustainability Officer)

Sara Kassam, V& A South Kensington (Sustainability Lead)

Hannah, Louise and Sara will provide an overview of their ambitions, progress, challenges and lessons learnt in implementing Green / Sustainable champion initiatives with a wide range staff, building types and locations (including against the recent challenges with covid related restrictions).
