On the 11th of March we hosted the latest in our Sustainability Strategy Series. With many organisations focusing on understanding and reducing a wide range of their environmental impacts, it is often challenging to develop and co-ordinate policy, strategy and action. The Fit for the Future network is continuing to support members in this key area through the Sustainability Strategy Series, providing members with the opportunity to share ambitions, challenges, approaches, resources, progress and lessons learnt.
Adrian Fitzpatrick (Sustainability Manager, National Museums Northern Ireland) provided an overview of the Museum’s sustainability journey including a carbon audit, the creation of the Sustainability Manager position, pollinators action plans, long established woodland restoration, environmental sustainability working group and partnerships. Adrian also provided an overview on developing their commitments (including Net Zero aspiration) and moving forward in a range of areas, including:
· Developing an Environmental Sustainable Framework aligned with Sustainable Development Goals and their draft corporate strategy
· The implementation and progression of their revised Environmental Sustainability Action Plan.
· Developing and bringing forward environmental polices – biodiversity, energy, travel etc
Members can watch the recordings and access all associated resources in their members area.
