On the 26th September we hosted the latest in our regular Sustainability Champions Discussion Group focusing on how you inspire, engage and empower staff and volunteers to take collective and impactful action to implement environmental sustainability within an organisation. A great opportunity to support and link up with other members, developing collaboration and sharing opportunities in this increasingly significant area.
We were delighted to be joined by Lucy Crichard (Sustainability Apprentice, RNLI) who started the discussion by providing an overview of the RNLI’s Sustainability Champions group (a voluntary initiative where staff and volunteers can get involved with sustainability in an informal way). Lucy’s overview included:
- Why does the RNLI need Sustainability Champions?
- How was it initially set up?
- How is the group managed and run?
- Engagement and interactive elements
- Progress and lessons learnt
Many thanks to everyone who attended and joined in the discussion, it was really interesting to hear about a range of sustainability champions groups (with a diverse range of approaches and resources being used). We will continue to host this discussion group, to continue support members to share their ambitions, challenges, approaches, progress, lessons learnt and resources in this area of huge potential for engagement and positive impact.
Members can watch the recordings and access all associated resources in their members area.
