Fit for the Future’s objectives aren’t changing and we remain committed to supporting our members decarbonise, adapt to climate change and develop business resilience. We believe that more urgently than ever, all organisations need to achieve the rapid and far-reaching changes required to operate sustainably and responsibly into the future. Together, we have a unique opportunity to build back better from the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy– and avoid choices that lock in emissions or climate risks.
It is nonetheless important to acknowledge the impact of Covid-19 on the network and the changed external context. As always, we respond to the needs of our members and will adjust our delivery plans to meet those needs.
Over the next few weeks and months, Fit for the Future will be listening to our members to understand the impact of Covid-19 in the context of achieving their climate change and sustainability goals. We will be working up plans to deliver our services, activities, networking and collaboration in response to this valuable feedback. In the shorter-term this is going to mean lots more virtual events and networking, shareable templates and resources, smaller site visits and peer reviews, and of course plenty of link-ups so our members can get the practical advice and support they need. Never before has collaboration and knowledge-sharing been more critical to collectively overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
We will be developing valuable partnerships across all sectors, to add value to everything we do, to grow the network and to operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. And we will be very mindful of the changed economic environment for ourselves and our members as we seek to take Fit for the Future into its next stage, looking at new and diverse avenues for funding and growth.
We are looking forward to welcoming back our members, as well as some newer faces, and to ensure that the invaluable knowledge-sharing can begin as soon as possible.
