Sustainable procurement (purchased goods and services) continues to be a significant focal point for Fit for the Future, with members collaborating to better understand, measure and reduce the environmental impact of their procurement activity. Fit for the Future will be hosting a range of webinars and discussion groups in 2025 to enable members to share procurement challenges, approaches, lessons learnt, opportunities, progress, and resources. The network supporting members in both specific areas and wider organisational activity (e.g. scope 3* initiatives and net zero delivery).
This virtual session will focus on approaches to procurement data collection and the use of emission conversion factors for monitoring and reporting. With members being keen to hear from a range of organisation types and sizes we are delighted to have presentations from:
• Ben Orchard (Carbon Action Officer, National Trust)
• Jon Ray (Environmental Sustainability Manager, Oxford University Gardens, Libraries & Museums (GLAM))
• Amy Moore (Head of Sustainability, Scania)
There will be an opportunity to ask questions and to join in a group discussion. All members are welcome to attend, regardless of previous experience or knowledge on this topic. The session will be of benefit to all, whatever your size and scope of operations/activity. From organisations just starting off to those already delivering a sustainable procurement strategy, there will be lots to share and collaborate on, from identifying collective challenges to learning from other approaches.
*Scope 3: Indirect value chain emissions, the result of activities from assets not owned or controlled by an organisation, includes:
• Purchased goods and services (supply chains)
• Business travel and Employee commuting
• Waste disposal
• Use of sold products
• Transportation and distribution (up- and downstream)
• Investments
• Leased assets and franchises
