The Fit for the Future Network has teamed up with the Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance to present this national conference on Responsible Retrofit with support from the National Trust, Bristol City Council, CoRE, Sustainable Homes, CSE, Historic England, Institute of Historic Building Conservation, UWE, Bristol Green Capital and the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists.
Join us at At-Bristol on the 3rd of June for discussions, workshops and training led by the UK’s most experienced organisations. Early bird tickets are now available until 8th May.
Tackling the Challenges
Pre 1919 buildings make up one in five homes in the UK and nearly a third of the buildings in the private rental sector. These buildings represent the nation’s everyday heritage, but are at risk of long-term damage due to a ‘one size fits all’ approach to improving their energy efficiency. The use of some modern materials and approaches can actually decrease energy efficiency of traditional buildings and cause severe damage over time. There is, however, plenty of evidence that traditional homes can be energy efficient when a knowledgeable and skilled approach to retrofit is taken. This national conference will tackle these issues, bringing together experts from across the UK.
Expert knowledge and experience
Local Authorities, Housing Associations and private landlords are invited to join the UK’s most experienced organisations within the built environment and heritage sectors for a day of workshops, hands-on training sessions, debate and presentations of case studies. The conference is tailored to professionals who are planning or delivering retrofit programmes, specifically those who work in asset, programme and risk management, conservation and sustainability, planning, contracting, design and supply chain.
Representatives from the UK’s most experienced organisations will identify the risks and unintended consequences associated with the retrofit of traditional buildings, and the best ways of managing them. Practical resources and case studies will be shared as well as tools to develop effective retrofit strategies. There will also be the opportunity to build up a national support network and continue informal discussions over drinks in the evening.
Members of the Fit for the Future Network and the STBA can purchase tickets at a discounted prince.
