The Responsible Retrofit Conference 2015 in pictures

This year we teamed up with Sustainable Traditional Buildings Alliance (STBA) to produce a national conference that would raise awareness about, and tackle the problem of, the irresponsible retrofit of traditional buildings. The conference brought together a range of different organisations under one roof for a day of sharing best practice, networking and lively discussions.

A host of experts shared their research, launched new resources or explained recent guidance and standards. Attendees were provided with a toolkit of practical resources that can be used when carrying out their own retrofitting projects.

Everyone didn’t always agree – but that was exactly what we wanted! Bringing contrary opinions and priorities together under one roof to enable conversation and (hopefully) a better understanding of the other person’s position was a high priority for us when organising the event.

Ultimatelythe conference was very positive and although there is a large mountain to climb, everyone was in agreement that the challenge is now surmountable. I’m sure that the glorious sunshine and drinks at the end of day played a factor in everyone’s sunny outlook.

Huge thanks to our sponsors Historic England, National Trust and Bristol City Council with a special shout out also to Centre for Sustainable Energy and University of West England for their support and guidance throughout.responsible retrofit conference
