Members Avoid Spending Almost £7m on Fossil Fuel Energy: Impact Report 2017
We are delighted to announce the launch of our latest Impact Report, which celebrates the successes of the network in 2017 and reveals how our 102 member organisations are becoming climate-friendly, adaptive and resilient.
Network members collectively look after 30,497 buildings and own 815,290 hectares of land, an area roughly the size of North Yorkshire. By collaborating and sharing knowledge they are ensuring the resilience of buildings, land and their wider operations. The report demonstrates the network’s commitment to supporting members in tackling a wide range of issues, from resource management and climate-change adaptation to transport and energy.
Our Network Chair, Sir Ed Davey, said:
“Climate change is putting the things we value most at risk, including buildings, landscapes and the wider environment. The organisations within Fit for the Future are rising to the challenge by collaborating to find practical solutions. Member organisations are demonstrating that operating without damaging the environment is possible and, moreover, that it makes business sense.”
The ways in which the network has helped its members save significant amounts of money, time and other resources are detailed throughout the report. Farms for City Children, for example, have saved several thousand pounds thanks to advice from the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, and have incorporated environmental issues into their new strategic plan thanks to help from Field Studies Council. In turn, Field Studies Council have saved approximately £10k in energy costs thanks to linking with others in the network’s Energy Management group.
